About the script - and sex strikes

Lysistrata, the original play written by Aristophanes and first performed in 411 BCE, is one of the earliest known depictions of sex striking. In the play, women from warring Greek city-states unite and vow to withhold sex from their husbands until peace is negotiated during the 15 year Peloponnesian War.

While the story is comedic and exaggerated, the idea of a sex strike as a serious strategy for political and social change has historical precedence and ripples. Throughout history, and across cultures, sex strikes have been used for promoting social action in sensitive moments, with a high level of success.
